Giacomo Puccinis sista opera ”Turandot”, från 1924, som nu spelas på Operan i Stockholm, är en magnifik och spektakulär uppsättning.

Since Puccini had died suddenly in 1924, the final scenes were written by composer Franco Alfano. The ending, in particular, is considered controversial; even after she tortures Calaf's friend Liu, who kills herself, Calaf still wants to be with Turandot. About. Turandot is Puccini’s final opera (unfinished at his death) and perhaps as a result, it is by far and away his most musically adventurous. As in Madama Butterfly, the score is filled with Asian touches, the percussion section in particular packed with gongs and various tuned instruments (xylophones, glockenspiels and the like). Boy is it spectacular!

Premiär på Göteborgsoperan den 8 april 2006. Dirigent: Christian Badea Regi: Vladimír Morávek Scenografi: Martin  Aldrig varit här tidigare och aldrig varit på opera. Gav mersmak. Fantastiskt föreställning med många duktiga sångare.

Dirige Riccardo Chailly. Produzione del Teatro alla  Vi är väldigt glada över att Giacomo Puccinis mästerverk Turandot inleder opera på bio-säsongen från Met i New York. Föreställningen livesänds på Folkets Hus  Giacomo Puccini Turandot. Lördag 12/10 kl 19.00.

Gut möglich, dass dies einer der Hauptgründe war, dass es Puccini nicht gelang die Oper fertig zu schreiben. Puccini schrieb für Turandot eine dramatische Rolle, die Stimmbänder aus Stahl erfordert, schon ihre Auftrittsarie «In questa reggia» ist ein ungeheurer Kraftakt.

Puccinis opera Turandot är fantastisk, stundtals också fantastiskt obegriplig.
